    What is the state of .NET today? Which of the many .NET technologies have gained traction? Which ones can you ignore for now? What is new in .NET 3.5 and the coming .NET 4.0? What other Microsoft technologies should you include in your development efforts? This event is It is designed for developers as well as (IT) decision makers. Specific prior knowledge is not required.

    bio:

    Markus Egger is the President and CSA of EPS Software Corp. and its associated brands and companies, such as CODE Magazine, CODE Online, Xiine, Tower 48, EPS Austria GmbH, JockTock, and others. EPS is a custom software development and consulting firm located in Houston, Texas (USA) and Salzburg (Austria). He specializes in consulting for advanced business applications built on the Microsoft platform. EPS does most of its development using Microsoft Visual Studio (.NET) and SQL Server (among other technologies). EPS has worked on numerous software projects for Fortune 500 companies including Philip Morris, NEC, Qualcomm, Shell and Microsoft. Markus has also worked on campus as a contractor for the Microsoft Visual Studio team.

    Markus is an international speaker having presented sessions at numerous conferences including a number of conferences in North America, Europe, and South America. Markus has written numerous articles for publications including CODE Magazine, MSDN Magazine, Visual Studio Magazine, ASP.NET Pro Magazine, FoxPro Advisor, Fuchs, FoxTalk and Microsoft Office & Database Journal. Markus is the publisher of CoDe Magazine, a .NET publication focusing in technologies such as .NET and Web Development. Markus has written a book about Advanced Object Oriented Programming. Markus also received the Microsoft MVP Award (consecutively, from 1996 to 2009, making him one of the longest-running MVPs) for his contributions to the developer community. Markus has also been named a "Tablet PC Influential Developer", ( a.k.a. "Tablet PC Guru"), an honor Microsoft awarded to the 10 most influential developers in the worldwide Tablet PC market. Visual LandPro, one of the applications Markus was in charge of, was nominated for the Microsoft Excellence Awards three times.     Join us June 9th as John Pelak gives us an overview of Expression Blend 3. Blend 3 represents a quantum leap forward in terms of its features for designers and developers creating rich applications for the Windows desktop and the web.  Features like SketchFlow prototyping, design-time data generation, Photoshop + Illustrator asset import, simplified control creation, declarative behaviors, feedback tracking, and Office document import/export will have a profound positive impact on the productivity of software development teams.  This presentation will walk you through the features of Expression Blend 3 and the technologies that support and enable it: XAML, Silverlight 3, and WPF.

    In addition, Jason De Lorme will be creating an application that leverages the new Windows 7 Taskbar and Jumplist APIs using Visual Studio 2010. Learn about the new aspects of developing for Win 7 while also taking a look at the VS 2010 IDE. 

    BIO(s):

    John Pelak is an Architect Evangelist at Microsoft who helps Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) accelerate their adoption of emerging technologies from Microsoft.   He’s been with Microsoft since 1995 in various technical roles, taking a year off to work as a software architect in the Harvard Medical School community in downtown Boston.  John is leading the Windows Client Initiative for Microsoft this year in the US, and has been focusing on technologies like XAML, Silverlight, WPF, and Expression Blend while delivering XamlFest events across the country.  John spends his spare time with his wife and sons while playing various musical instruments with a marginal degree of skill.

    Jason De Lorme is an Architect Evangelist at Microsoft who helps Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) accelerate their adoption of emerging technologies from Microsoft.   He’s been in this role for 3 years.  Prior to working for Microsoft, Jason was an independent software consultant working mainly with companies in financial services.  He was a Director of Engineering at Monster.com, a partner in Web Technology Partners and he helped build early versions of Staples business-to-business e-commerce platform as well as call center applications for SHL Systemhouse.  He’s an avid cyclist, skier, hiker and has a 3 year old son, named Jack.
