Blogging for the Geek in everyone of us

If anyone likes the idea of blogging AND wants to host their own site AND maintain an easy to use code base, you need to try out BlogEngine.NET. Version 1.4 was recently released and I've been using it since 1.3 at the beginning of the year.

OK, blogging can be done by logging into the site using an editor, not quite as sophisticated as the one I'm using here on TVUG.NET, but I get to use Windows Live Writer which I started using a few months ago. I still tweak the HTML periodically but I'm spending a lot of time seeking out ways to extend the tools already provided.

I just published my first theme for version 1.4 (http://biztron.net/post/2008/07/Its-just-about-time-for-a-new-theme-and-BlogEngineNET-14.aspx) based on MWRT-002.

With my Home Office project nearly complete, I've spent some time moving my hosted sites to a VPS host so I can get back the deatailed control I so crave.

It's time to move some of the workload from our DotNetNuke 3.x platform over to SharePoint. Dr. Kurt Matis, TVUG's new Webmaster, as well as the rest of the exec team and anyone who'd like to help and/or learn about SharePoint is welcome to join us. The more involvement we have as a group, the more we can do and the faster we can implement it.
